How do you get from Izmir Airport to Akcay?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Akcay it is about 180 km by road, a drive that on most days takes 2.5–3 hours. After leaving the airport we head towards Menemen and Aliaga. We then pass Ayvalik and Burhaniye and reach the Gulf of Edremit. Once past the Edremit side, we continue along the northern shore of the gulf and arrive in Akcay.

On the last stretch the slopes of Mount Ida (Kazdaglari) run alongside the road, with the sea on the other side.

Where do people stay in Akcay?

Akcay lies on the northern shore of the Gulf of Edremit. In the summer months the seafront is lively, with hotels, cafes and restaurants filling up, especially in the evening. People looking for somewhere quieter usually choose the areas a little back from the beach, where the apartments and holiday homes are.

When you send us the address of your hotel or apartment, we check its location. Whether it is in the centre of Akcay, on the seafront or a little further out makes no difference; we drop you right at the address you gave us.

If you would like to see more of the area around Akcay, there are places worth a stop on the Mount Ida side, such as the Sutuven Waterfall.

Heading west from Akcay, we reach Zeytinli and then Gure. Gure is known above all for its thermal hotels. If you are staying in one of these places, send us your address; we will check the location and tell you the correct transfer fare in advance.

The difference between Akcay, Edremit and Altinoluk

The names here can be a little confusing.

Akcay belongs to Edremit. That is why some hotel addresses say “Edremit” even though the hotel is actually in Akcay. Edremit town, on the other hand, is in a different place from Akcay.

Altinoluk lies west of Akcay. So the road distances to Akcay, Edremit town and Altinoluk are not the same. If you send us your accommodation address when you book, we check where you are and give you the right price.

Balikesir Koca Seyit Airport is closer to Akcay, but if you are flying into Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, we offer a direct transfer from there as well.

How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Akcay?

Our Izmir Airport to Akcay transfer costs €160 / ₺8.800 per vehicle, one way. For the whole drive, the vehicle carries only you and your travel companions. Many of the guests we bring to Akcay are families spending the summer on the gulf. Even with suitcases, pushchairs and a big family on board, the fare stays the same, because we price by vehicle, not by person. Our Mercedes Vito takes up to 7 passengers; if there will be 8 or more of you, message us on WhatsApp and we will plan an extra vehicle together.

If your hotel address reads “Edremit, Akcay”, the Akcay fare on this page is the one that applies to you. Zeytinli, Gure, Edremit town and Altinoluk each have their own fare; once we see your address, we tell you which one applies.

For a return trip we add the two one-way fares together. We do not ask for prepayment; you pay in cash at the end of the ride, when you step out of the vehicle in Akcay.

Returning from Akcay to Izmir Airport

On the way back, we pick you up wherever you are staying in Akcay. At hotels on the seafront our vehicle pulls up at the hotel entrance; for apartments and holiday homes in the streets behind the beach, we come right to your door.

We set the pickup time together with you, looking at your flight time, your hotel checkout time and the length of the drive. The return trip follows the same road in reverse: from the northern shore across to the Edremit side, then via Burhaniye and Ayvalik down to Izmir.
