How do you get from Izmir Airport to Kusadasi?

From the terminal we take the Izmir–Aydin motorway south past Torbali. Near Selcuk we leave it, skirt the town and head for the coast, passing Pamucak beach before entering Kusadasi from the north along a shore lined with large hotels.

At Pamucak the sea comes into view, and from there the road follows the bay. Ephesus, just outside Selcuk, lies close to our route.

Where do people stay in Kusadasi?

Kaleici and the centre form the old quarter, with the bazaar and narrow streets overlooking the harbour and Pigeon Island (Guvercinada); in the evening it is the liveliest part of town. The marina and Ege Port are on the waterfront, a short walk from the centre. Ladies Beach (Kadinlar Denizi), south-west of the centre, is the hotel and apartment area around the beach of that name. Along the north shore towards Pamucak, large resort hotels line the coast.

The town’s symbol is Pigeon Island, linked to the centre by a causeway and topped by an old fortress; the Okuz Mehmet Pasa Caravanserai and the bazaar are a few steps from the harbour. Ephesus, Sirince and the Dilek Peninsula National Park are day trips from here, so many travellers use Kusadasi as a base.
