How do you get from Izmir Airport to Alacati?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Alacati we have a drive of about 85 km, which takes 1 hour on most days. Leaving the airport, we take the Izmir ring road and join the Izmir–Cesme motorway. Past Urla we head deeper into the peninsula and leave the motorway at the Alacati exit, before reaching Cesme; from there it is only a short drive into town.

As we approach the town, the old stone windmills lined up on the hill come into view. For anyone who has been to Alacati before, that sight is the first sign the holiday has begun.

On summer evenings, traffic can slow down at the entrance to the town and in the streets near the old bazaar. If you tell us your hotel’s car entrance or the nearest point a car can reach when you book, we skip the circling and head straight there.

Where do people stay in Alacati?

Places to stay in Alacati are spread over a few quite different areas.

The old town is the part with the stone houses, narrow lanes and boutique hotels. Kemalpasa Caddesi and the Hacimemis area come alive with cafés and restaurants in the evening. People staying here can spend their evenings on foot, so they rarely need a car during the holiday.

Port Alacati is the marina area on the bay south of the town. The canal-side houses and the hotels near the marina suit those who want to stay a little away from the bustle of the old town.

Detached villas and holiday homes on gated estates are common around the town, and larger families and groups of friends mostly rent these villas. Windsurfers head for the surf centres along the bay and the hotels around them; with its steady summer wind, Alacati bay is one of the best-known windsurfing spots in Turkey.

Can a car get into the stone-house streets?

A little preparation here makes your arrival much easier.

The main street of the old town, Kemalpasa Caddesi, and parts of the lanes around it are pedestrian. That means some boutique hotels cannot be reached by car, and the last few steps are on foot. Most hotels already tell their guests where a car can get close; sharing that with us is all it takes.

In streets open to cars, we bring you right to the hotel door. In pedestrian streets, we stop at the nearest point a car can reach and unload your suitcases there. That is why, when we plan your transfer, the exact location of the hotel matters as much as your flight time.
