How do you get from Izmir Airport to Didim?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Didim it is about 120 km, a drive that takes 1.5–2 hours on most days. Leaving the airport, we turn south and head towards Selcuk and Soke. After Soke we drop down into the Great Meander plain, drive between its wide, flat fields and then turn onto the Didim road.

As we approach Didim, we pass close to the ancient city of Miletus. Once we arrive, the columns of the Temple of Apollo appear right in the middle of the town centre. In antiquity the temple was a sanctuary belonging to Miletus, and first-time visitors rarely expect to find such a large monument in the middle of a small town. The name Didim itself comes from ancient Didyma.

Because the drive rarely takes much more than two hours, most of our passengers prefer to go without a break. If you have small children with you or would like a short pause, just mention it in your booking; we allow for it and give you an estimated arrival time. If you would like a short stop on the way to see the ruins of Miletus, we can talk about that when you book as well.

Where do people stay in Didim?

Most of Didim’s hotels are in Altinkum. Around this sandy beach in the south of the district, hotels, apart-hotels and family hotels stand side by side, and in summer the seafront stays lively until late in the evening. Its shallow, sandy water makes it a popular choice for families with children.

Didim town, where the Temple of Apollo stands, is where local life goes on, with its shops and restaurants. Didim Marina suits passengers continuing by boat or staying on board. Holiday estates and villas are spread along different stretches of the coast, and some of them are quite a distance from the centre.

When we receive the address of your accommodation, the first thing we do is look it up on the map. If you are staying on an estate, adding the estate name, the block or gate number and a location link makes the last part much easier. Whether it is a hotel in Altinkum, a boat in the marina or a villa up on the hill, we take you to that exact address.

How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Didim?

Our Izmir Airport to Didim transfer fare is €100 / ₺5.500 per vehicle, one way. The same fare applies to hotels in Altinkum, Didim town and Didim Marina. It does not go up with the number of passengers. Didim mostly welcomes families with children and larger families coming to their holiday homes, and on these trips, with plenty of luggage and passengers, a per-vehicle price makes a real difference.

For a return trip we add the two one-way fares together. We do not ask for prepayment when you book; you pay in cash at the end of the ride. The vehicle is reserved for you, and we make no other stops on the way unless you ask.

Return from Didim to Izmir Airport

For the return journey we pick you up at your hotel entrance, at the gate of your estate or at Didim Marina. Where it is difficult to pull up right outside the hotel, we agree the meeting point with you in advance.

We set the pickup time together, based on your flight time. If there is a long gap between checking out and your flight, we talk it through and find a plan that suits you. As the drive takes around two hours, it is often possible to plan your last day in Didim without cutting it short. If you booked both ways, we confirm the pickup time with you towards the end of your stay.

Didim, Altinkum and Akbuk: what is the difference?

The names can be a little confusing here.

Altinkum is Didim’s best-known beach and part of the district. So whether your hotel address says “Didim” or “Altinkum”, the fare on this page applies, and it makes no difference which of the two names you write when you book.

Akbuk also belongs to Didim, but it is a separate bay that we reach on a road branching off before Didim town, and it has its own transfer page. The one-way fare is the same on both routes; only the last stretch of road and the arrival time differ.

There is also a name clash: Cesme has a well-known beach called Altinkum as well. If your booking is for Altinkum in Cesme, the right page is the Ciftlikkoy transfer, which covers the Altinkum and Pirlanta beaches. When you send us your address, we also check which Altinkum it is.
