How do you get from Izmir Airport to Urla?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Urla we have a short drive of about 45 km, which on most days takes 40–50 minutes. After leaving the airport we join the Izmir ring road and connect to the Cesme motorway. Because we never enter the city-centre traffic, most of the drive flows easily.

Once Guzelbahce is behind us, the city slowly gives way to olive groves and low hills. At the Urla exit we leave the motorway and head for the centre, Iskele or the vineyard road, depending on your address.

As the drive is short, a break on the way is rarely needed. If you would like to stop at a supermarket or a pharmacy, just let us know in advance and we add the stop to the route.

Where do people stay in Urla?

Urla is known for its artichokes, olive oil and wineries, and the town gets busy at weekends, especially during the artichoke season in spring and the grape harvest in autumn. If you are coming at those times, arranging your stay and your transfer a little early makes things easier. Places to stay fall into three quite different areas: the centre, Iskele and the vineyard road.

Urla centre has the old market streets among stone houses and the Art Street (Sanat Sokagi), lined with galleries and workshops. Some boutique hotels are on narrow lanes; where the car cannot reach the door, we drop you at the nearest corner. For anyone who likes to explore on foot and sit at a café in the evening, the centre is an easy choice.

Iskele lies north of the centre, on the sea. With its small harbour, fish restaurants and waterfront hotels, it is livelier in summer. The remains of ancient Klazomenai, known for its reconstructed olive-oil workshop, are on this stretch of coast too; Klazomenai is also remembered as the birthplace of the philosopher Anaxagoras.

The vineyard road (Bag Yolu) runs through the vineyards in the countryside around Urla. Wineries, vineyard houses, restaurants and small boutique hotels are spread along it, and the nights here are quieter. Many properties are down side roads off the main road, so the entrance is not always obvious at first glance.

When you send us the name of your hotel or vineyard house with a map pin, we find the turning before we set off and drop you right at the door. Cesmealti, Gulbahce with the IYTE campus, and Balikliova also belong to Urla but lie well outside the town. If you are staying in one of these villages, we look at your address and tell you the fare for that location in advance.

Urla, Cesme and Karaburun: what is the difference?

What confuses guests most here is where one district ends and the next begins. Urla sits at the start of the Cesme peninsula, but it is a district of its own, not part of Cesme. A holiday home advertised as being “on the Cesme peninsula” may actually be within Urla.

After Urla the motorway continues west to Alacati and Cesme; if you are staying at the tip of the peninsula, we have a separate route for Cesme. The coastal road north through Balikliova leads to Mordogan and the Karaburun peninsula. Balikliova belongs to Urla, while Mordogan and Karaburun are in another district, and from there the drive becomes noticeably longer. To the south, a road crosses the hills down to the Seferihisar coast; if you are staying around Sigacik or Seferihisar, that area has its own fare, which we give you based on your address.

How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Urla?

Our fare from Izmir Airport to Urla is €45 / ₺2.500 per vehicle, one way. The vehicle is reserved for you alone, and the number of passengers does not change the price: a couple and a family of five with their suitcases travel in the same vehicle for the same fare. Up to seven people ride in one vehicle; larger groups can message us on WhatsApp and we plan a second vehicle together.

We take no prepayment; you pay in cash at the end of the ride. If you plan a return trip, we add the two one-way fares together.

Returning from Urla to Izmir Airport

On the way back we pick you up where you are staying. At boutique hotels in the centre the car sometimes cannot reach the door; in that case we agree a meeting point in advance, for example the corner where we dropped you off. In Iskele we collect you at the hotel entrance, and on the vineyard road at the gate of your property.

As the drive to the airport is short, you can spend your last morning without rushing. When you send us your flight time and your check-out time, we set the pickup time together with you. If you would like a little more time on the Art Street or a last coffee in Iskele after check-out, we plan around it.
