How do you get from Izmir Airport to Bodrum?
From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Bodrum it is about 240 km, a drive that takes 3–3.5 hours on most days. Leaving the airport, we join the Izmir–Aydin motorway and head south towards Soke. Past Soke we carry on along the Milas road. After Milas we pass Guvercinlik and enter the Bodrum peninsula, then head for Bodrum town or one of the other bays, depending on where you are staying.
Roughly halfway, the road runs along the shore of Lake Bafa. On one side there is the still water of the lake, on the other the rocky slopes of the Besparmak Mountains.
As the journey is over three hours, we like to talk about breaks right from the start. If you are coming with small children or an older relative, we can stop somewhere along the way to stretch your legs. A short note in your booking is enough, and we include the break when we work out your arrival time.
Where do people stay in Bodrum?
When people say Bodrum they often picture one town, but it is really a whole peninsula spread over many bays. Bodrum town, with its castle, marina and bazaar, is the liveliest place on it. Gumbet, just to the west, is a bay packed with hotels. Bitez and Ortakent line the south coast further west. The Museum of Underwater Archaeology is inside the castle.
At the western tip of the peninsula lies Turgutreis, and to the north-west Yalikavak; both have marinas. The marina in Yalikavak is where large yachts moor, surrounded by restaurants and shops, and people come over from other parts of the peninsula to spend the evening there. Gumusluk, on the west coast, is a smaller and quieter bay known for its fish restaurants and sunsets. On the north coast, in Gundogan and Turkbuku, villas and holiday homes inside gated estates are common. The drive to these areas takes a little longer than to Bodrum town.
When you share the address of your hotel, villa or estate, we check where it is on the map. If you are staying in a villa inside an estate, adding the location of the entrance gate means we can drive straight to the door instead of searching for it at the end. Wherever you are on the peninsula, we drop you right at the address you gave us.
How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Bodrum?
Our fare to Bodrum is €160 / ₺8.800 per vehicle, one way. It covers the whole vehicle, so it stays the same whether you travel alone or two families share the car and there are seven of you; the more of you there are, the less each person pays.
For a return journey we add the two one-way fares together. We do not take any prepayment; you pay in cash once the ride is over. The vehicle is reserved for you and your travel companions only, and we do not pick up anyone else on the way.
If you are staying outside the peninsula, for example around Milas or Gulluk, send us your address; we will check the location and tell you the correct fare in advance. If you are heading to Didim or Altinkum, the drive is shorter; you will find the fare for that area on the Didim transfer page.
Return from Bodrum to Izmir Airport
For the return journey we pick you up wherever you are staying: at the hotel entrance, at the gate of your estate or, if your holiday ends on a boat, at the marina. If you are leaving from Yalikavak or Turgutreis marina, tell us which pier the boat is at, so you do not have to walk far with your luggage.
In Bodrum town, it is not always possible to drive right up to some of the hotels around the castle and the marina. In that case we let you know in advance the nearest point where the car can stop.
As the drive is over three hours, we work out the pickup time with you, counting back from your flight. In summer, the road out of the peninsula can be busy, and we allow for that too. If you have to check out long before your flight, we talk it through and find a plan that suits you.
Izmir Airport or Milas-Bodrum Airport?
Airport names can be a little confusing here.
Bodrum’s own airport, Milas-Bodrum (BJV), is much closer to the peninsula, and our road from Izmir passes near it. This transfer, however, is for passengers whose flight lands at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). Some travellers choose to fly into Izmir because the flight times or connections suit them better, and then continue to Bodrum by road.
Before you book, please check the arrival airport on your ticket; if it says ADB, you are on the right page.
