All route prices →How do you get from Izmir Airport to Pamukkale?
From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Pamukkale it is about 250 km, a drive that usually takes 3–3.5 hours. For the first part we head south on the Izmir–Aydin motorway and stay on it as far as Aydin. Then we enter the Buyuk Menderes valley and travel east through Nazilli and Saraykoy. For the last part we head for the travertines north of Denizli city centre.
As we get closer to Pamukkale, the white travertines start to show on the hillside from a distance.
As the journey is long, if you land early in the morning, you may want to stop for breakfast on the way, or for a meal if you arrive in the evening; just write it in your booking and we will add the length of the stop when we give you your estimated arrival time.
Where do people stay in Pamukkale?
Accommodation in Pamukkale is concentrated in two places. Pamukkale village sits right at the foot of the travertines; the small hotels and guesthouses are here, and it is the closest place to stay to the travertines. Since you can walk up to the travertines from the village, people who want an early start usually choose the village. Karahayit lies a little further north; most of the thermal hotels are here, and the village is known for its iron-rich, reddish hot spring. The ancient city of Hierapolis, above the travertines, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List together with them.
When you send us the name of your hotel or guesthouse, we check which side it is on. Some guesthouses in the village are on narrow lanes; even so, we drop you at the nearest point to the door, and usually right outside the guesthouse. For the large hotels in Karahayit, the hotel name is enough.
Are Pamukkale and Denizli the same place?
We hear this question often. The travertines are north of Denizli city centre, in a separate settlement. “Pamukkale” is also the name of the district that covers part of Denizli city centre; Pamukkale University, for example, is in the city, not at the travertines. If your address says “Pamukkale” but the hotel is in the city, or you are going to Denizli for work, the right page is the Denizli route.
Between the travertines and the city lies the ancient city of Laodicea, one of the places people staying a few days in Pamukkale like to visit. When you send us your address, we check which route applies and give you the correct price.
How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Pamukkale?
Our transfer from Izmir Airport to Pamukkale costs €170 / ₺9.000 per vehicle, one way. The price is per vehicle, not per person: a couple, a family with children and a few friends travelling together all pay the same fare. There are no other passengers in the vehicle.
If you book the way back too, the two one-way fares are added together. You pay in cash when we reach your hotel in Pamukkale, at the end of the ride; we do not take any payment in advance.

Returning from Pamukkale to Izmir Airport
For the return we pick you up at your guesthouse in Pamukkale village or at the entrance of your hotel in Karahayit. Many travellers like to spend their last morning on the travertines or in Hierapolis and set off afterwards; we plan the pickup time together, taking both your visit and your flight into account.
We work out the pickup time by counting back from your flight and leaving room for a stop and the time you need at the airport. Coming from Izmir, visiting the travertines and going back on the same day is possible too; but with a long drive in each direction, it makes for a full day.
