All route prices →How do you get from Izmir Airport to central Izmir?
From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to the city centre it is about 18 km, a short drive that stays inside the city the whole way and takes 25–40 minutes depending on traffic. The airport is in Gaziemir, south of the centre. From there we head north into the city, reach Konak first and then continue along the waterfront to Alsancak. If you are going to Karsiyaka or Bayrakli, we drive around the bay to the northern shore.
Because the distance is short, it is really the traffic that sets the journey time. In the morning and evening rush hours the drive gets close to the upper end of the range; at quieter times of day it is shorter.
If you are heading straight from the plane to a meeting, write your flight number and meeting time in your booking. We take the landing, baggage claim and the traffic at that hour into account and give you a realistic arrival time.
Where do people stay in central Izmir?
Most first-time visitors stay in Konak or Alsancak. The Clock Tower and the Kemeralti bazaar are in Konak; Alsancak, just behind the Kordon seafront, is full of cafes and restaurants and lively in the evenings. Business travellers tend to prefer Bayrakli, the city’s newer business district with its tall office buildings, where the choice of hotels keeps growing. Karsiyaka is a large residential district with its own seafront and shopping streets; as ferries run between the two sides of the bay, plenty of people stay in Karsiyaka and cross to Konak by ferry during the day.
When you send us the address of your hotel or the office you are visiting, we check the location. Most of the streets inside Kemeralti and some streets in Alsancak are pedestrian, so in these areas we drop you at the closest point a car can reach, and we tell you in advance where that is. In the office towers of Bayrakli, the building name and entrance number make it easier to find the right door.
If you are staying a little outside the centre, in districts such as Bornova, Balcova or Narlidere, write us your address and we will tell you the fare in advance. If you are staying on the coast rather than in the city, have a look at the Urla route or the Cesme route.
How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to central Izmir?
Our transfer from the airport to Izmir city centre costs €30 / ₺1.750 per vehicle, one way. The same fare applies to Konak, Alsancak, Bayrakli and Karsiyaka, so a drive to Konak and a drive to the far side of the bay cost the same.
The fare does not go up with the number of passengers. A team of three or four heading to the same meeting and a family arriving with suitcases both pay the same fare for one vehicle. If you also book the ride back to the airport, the two one-way fares are simply added up. No prepayment is needed; you pay in cash at the end of the ride.
We drive straight to your address without picking up anyone else on the way. As the vehicle is yours alone, you can prepare for a meeting or take a phone call in peace.
Returning from central Izmir to Izmir Airport
For the return we pick you up at your hotel entrance, outside your office building or at your front door. If you are staying in Kemeralti or on one of Alsancak’s pedestrian streets, we agree on a meeting point together: a street near where we dropped you on arrival, where the car can stop.
On the way back, traffic is again the main factor. We agree the pickup time with you based on your flight, your hotel checkout and the traffic at that hour; if it falls in the evening rush, we suggest setting off a little earlier. If your meeting might run over, let us know in advance and we will talk through a new time with you.
