How do you get from Izmir Airport to Foca?

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Foca it is about 85 km, and most days the drive takes 1.5 hours. Leaving the airport, we use the ring road to get round to the north side of the city and head for Menemen. Once Menemen is behind us, we leave the main road and turn west onto the Foca road.

Foca sits on a headland at the northern entrance to the Gulf of Izmir. As we get closer, the road drops towards the sea and the stone houses around the bays come into view first. Being close to Izmir, Foca is also a popular choice for short breaks and weekends away.

The distance may look short, but traffic inside Izmir can stretch the drive. If you are coming with a baby or an elderly family member and would like a stop on the way, just mention it in your booking; we tell you the arrival time with the stop included.

Where do people stay in Foca?

Most places to stay are in Eski Foca (Old Foca). The town stands on the site of ancient Phocaea, whose sailors founded Massalia, today’s Marseille. Old stone houses, boutique hotels and guesthouses line its two bays, Kucukdeniz and Buyukdeniz, and the Siren Rocks lie just offshore.

Some lanes in the old quarter are too narrow for a car. If you are staying in a stone house on one of them, we suggest asking your host for a map pin of the nearest point a car can reach; we drop you there, as close to your door as possible.

Outside the town, holiday homes and summer estates stretch along the coast. Wherever you stay, we check the address you give us on the map before the trip and take you straight to your door.

Eski Foca or Yeni Foca?

There are two separate towns called Foca, which can confuse first-time visitors a little.

When people say “Foca” they usually mean Eski Foca, the main town. Yeni Foca (New Foca) is a smaller, quieter resort further north along the coast, with bays and holiday homes.

We go to both at the fare on this page. Even so, putting the town name on your booking matters so that our driver takes the right turn; when a booking only gives an estate name, we ask you which Foca it is.

Further north along the coast come Candarli and Dikili. These towns have their own fares; if your address is up that way, share the location and we give you the right price from the start.

How much is a transfer from Izmir Airport to Foca?

Our transfer fare from Izmir Airport to Foca is €65 / ₺3.500 per vehicle, one way. We do not charge per person: a couple coming for the weekend and a big group of friends pay the same. One vehicle has room for up to seven people; for eight or more, reach us on WhatsApp and we arrange a second vehicle.

If you want both directions, we add the two one-way fares together. You pay in cash when we drop you at your address in Foca; we do not ask for anything beforehand. There are no other passengers in the car for the whole ride, and child seats are free. We track your flight, so even if your landing time changes, we wait for you at the terminal exit with a sign showing your name.

Getting back from Foca to Izmir Airport

For the return, we pick you up at your hotel entrance, outside your guesthouse or at the door of your holiday home. If you stayed on a lane in Eski Foca that the car cannot enter, meeting at the spot where we dropped you on arrival keeps things simple.

We set the pickup time with you based on your flight, and we allow for city traffic as we approach Izmir. You can book the return together with the outward trip; for both directions, your flight details and address are all we need.
